You hit it right on the nose!! :) Unfortunately I cannot customize the
kernel due to support issues from the vendor.  I'm going to rename the
module to something else then rebuild the RPM package so that there are no
conflicts.

Broadcom drivers, I'll wager ... patch the kernel source RPM, 
since you are not running a pristine vendor kernel set anyway 
and correct the conflict in a rebuild from sources.
