I
install Sun's JDK 1.4.1_02 with no problems in the %post section. I downloaded
their jdk.bin file, extracted the rpm from it(which is interactive), and then
stored it on my nfs server where the post section install the rpm
(non-interactively).
If you
must run interactive scripts in %pre or %post you can use expect. Expect also
has a script called autoexpect that will create really elaborate expect scripts
for you automatically based on your interactive session. I use it to install
some programs whose console installers ask all sorts of
questions.

installation of JAVA silent too (i.e., kickstart will remember all the answers
I answered JAVA), or will this %post thing run java installation in
interactive mode?

Hi,
I am a newbie in this domain. I know
that kickstart can automate the
installation of RHL for me.
However, I want that JAVA (JRE 1.4.1) will be
installed to as part of my
RHL installation. I downloaded the appropriate
file from
java.sun.com and extracted the RPM from it.
Can I create distribution of
LINUX that conatins and install that RPM. Can
this installation be
automatic for all the parameters the JRE ask the user
for
too?
