The default Intel EtherExpress Pro driver does not work on the Vaio
laptops that we have. Well, it sort-of works: I get a througput of
about 16KBps or so, which basically rules out a network install.
Intel has their own "e100" driver available for download, which works
much better (> 4MBps speeds on a 100BT switch).

I hadn't considered replacing _all_ the modules, but now that you
suggest it, it makes sense to try it. I will try it out and post the
results here (once I find a sucker who's willing to give me his laptop
for "testing" ;-)

Thanks,

Ajay
