i'm just playing around, trying to invoke Xconfigurator with the --kickstart option at the command line, just to see what it would generate as an XF86Config-4 file. the problem is, no matter how i try to run it, i keep getting the error messages that: Server doesn't exist, can't continue. tried to use ../../use/X11R6/bin/XF86_VGA16 i've tried variations like: # Xconfigurator --kickstart # Xconfigurator --kickstart --preferxf4 # Xconfigurator --kickstart --preferxf4 --driver /usr/X11R6/bin/X and it's the same error each time. as i understand it, with XFree86 4.x, there is only one X server program -- /usr/X11R6/bin/X -> XFree86, right? so, should i not be allowed to run this at the command line? and what's the correct syntax? rday p.s. and if, when i finally get it to run, i'm assuming that the --startxonboot option will edit /etc/inittab to give me a default run level of 5, yes?
