How to display MAC address early in boot process

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,

I am new to kickstarts, having spent a lot of time working with
Solaris jumpstarts and HP ignite.

Our UNIX environment is mostly fixed-IPs, and so our network based
kickstarts will also avoid DHCP.

Toward that end, I'm using network --bootproto bootp in ks.cfg

We already have processes in place that allow our techs to map a
hardware address to an IP address on our bootp servers. The thing is,
on our Suns, its relatively easy to get the MAC address. Is there a
way I can get anacanda to spit out the ethernet card's MAC address
early in the boot process (i.e. before the boot: prompt)

Feel free to flame me with the "obvious" place in the docs where I
should have seen this :-)

Thanks for any and all help...
