Yes. In order for a networked kickstart to work you need to have a DHCP server, a DNS server and an NFS server. All three set up correctly. I don't know if it has been changed already, but it used to be that even if you specified bootproto static, it would still use DHCP for IP address lookup while installing, but would configure the static IP addresses in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 in order to boot with static IP addresses. - Wouter. --------------------------------------------------------------- Wouter Liefting Curriculum Owner Linux IBM Learning Services Tel. +31 (0)20 513 5057 Fax. +31 (0)20 513 2322 Internet: liefting@xxxxxxxxxx edmare@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx on 21-11-2000 09:56:07 Please respond to kickstart-list@xxxxxxxxxx To: Kickstart-list@xxxxxxxxxx cc: Subject: reverse name lookup failed hello everybody, after making a bootdisk using the bootnet.img on the redhat 6.2 cd-rom and making a correct ks.cfg file i get the following error * reverse name lookup failed in my ks.cfg i didn't define a name server, only an IP-address and a netmask network --bootproto static --ip 10.10.10.111 --netmask 255.255.255.0 do you must have a nameserver/dns in your network, or can you in stall in without a name/dns-server.
