1. apply the patch
2. mkdir /var/lib/func/known-minions on your minion
3. touch /var/lib/func/known-minions/thenameofmyoverlord 
4. run func overlord call ... .. ... from the minion
5. see it say 'access denied'
6. edit your .acl's on your overlord, restart funcd on the overlord
7. run the func overlord call from the minion again
8. watch it succeed
9. Profit!
