#3525: New mediawiki redirect behaviour is annoying --------------------------+----------------------------- Reporter: adamwill | Owner: webmaster Type: annoyance | Status: new Priority: minor | Milestone: HANDWAVY-FUTURE Component: Web Content | Version: Severity: Normal | Keywords: Blocked By: | Blocking: --------------------------+----------------------------- Seems like mediawiki's redirect behaviour changed after a recent upgrade. Unfortunately I much preferred the old behaviour. Previously, if you hit a redirect, the displayed URL would be just the URL of the redirected-to page, and there was a little link at the top to the non-redirected version of the page you were redirected from. So I could go to https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Current_Installation_Test and I'd wind up at the apparent URL https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_18_Beta_TC4_Install (which I could handily copy-and-paste somewhere, as I *frequently* do). Now I wind up at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Results:Fedora_18_Beta_TC4_Install?rd=Test_Results:Current_Installation_Test , and I have to chop off the last part of that if I want to paste it anywhere and have it look remotely clean. The other consequence is even more annoying - there is now no easy way that I can find to get to the actual redirection page. Previously there was a little link you could click if you oh say *wanted to change what page the redirect pointed to* - which we do with the Current_XXX_Test and Current_Test_Day redirects all the time. Now there isn't; I've looked and looked but I don't see anything. You have to know or remember that, to visit a redirect page without getting redirected, you have to enter the URL and manually append ?redirect=no . That sucks. Is it possible to go back to the old behaviour? Does MW have a config option for this? -- Ticket URL: <https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure/ticket/3525> Fedora Infrastructure <http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure> Fedora Infrastructure Project for Bugs, feature requests and access to our source code. -- websites mailing list websites@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/websites
