Thanks for you reply Ricky.

I was seeing these errors when I was trying to run yum update from the
command line.

Later, I figured out, that even after correcting the broken link
(which I got from one of the Linux forums) yum still couldn't reach
that link. (Problem was, yum was unable to pick up the system-level
proxy setting)

Solution: exported the shell variable "http-proxy=<proxy>:<port>"

Things are working fine now. :)
