I would definitely encourage Fedora Websites to avoid using pictures in replacement of pure code (text) on the grounds of SEO. The sites need to remain simple on the premise of load time, meta-crawling, and browser compliance. if linx can't see the point we're trying to make (text) then we're probably not doing our job. I also noted that jquery didn't meet w3 markup compliance standards on their site so are they really credible? There's lots of ways to get the site to a 2.0 level with out risking too much issues of browser compliance. As long as we stick to suckerfish style menu's with pure code Google etc should be able to see the links.

Hello all,
Recently i've spoken with Robin Norwood about the Amber mockups and
volunteered to make the mockups work in html+css and perhaps even some
_javascript_.
I did make a head start with the development but soon discovered that
i actually needed to tell it here first so that i can get some
feedback on how to proceed in this.
My intention is (as said) to make the mockups in html and let amber
use it. The other part is the frame of the mockups which is supposed
to be the default for all of the fedora sites. All those sites already
look like the mockup but can use some more attention to let the left
menu look like it and perhaps the bottom (didn't really compare the
2).
It seems obvious for me that i need to take the current css from
fedoraproject, adjust it to the mockup style and post it here so it
can be used and integrated in fedoraproject sites.
But how do you think about it? your opinion on how to proceed with
this would be welcome.
About the mockups
I saw them and they look very good! but i have an idea to make them
look better. For that idea look here: http://ui.jquery.com/ at the 3
big buttons on the bottom. Wouldn't that effect be nice in
fedoraproject for the buttons and the application frames in the
mockup? For that to work i need a mockup in the hover state of those.
So what do you think about that idea?

I talked to Norwood about this as well and told him that i actually
liked (the codename) Amber way more then the intended name:
"Application install".. Norwood told me that he is fine with both
names and i personally would like to see Amber as the final name.

That's a cool effect. Here is an animated mockup of what could be done
with Amber application blocks.

The normal state has a fade from #f3f4f4 to white, going halfway down
the block.
The hover state has a fade from #d7e7f7 to white, also halfway down the
block.
The transition fades between the two.
Maybe make the backgrounds transparent PNGs that could fade in over each
other?
(Note there's a 1px border inside the 1px outer grey border.)

In Fedora's website there is the pt_BR language.
Well, Portuguese and Brazilian in fact look alike but there are many words
that you write and pronounce different.
Some person that don't understand a webmaster's work could think that those
are grammar mistakes.
Would you like to add a pt_PT language to the site?
I'll do it for free, I'll just need time to do it (I'm a webmaster myself
and with lots of work these last days).
