No, it's still possible to mirror the installation tree to a local
machine to get the whole distribution.
Only a handful of people have internet speeds fast enough to
get that whole image in any reasonable length of time.
If you have anything like DSL, it would take WAY too long to
try and download the whole thing.
There are several alternative ways of installing Fedora on a machine
- Installation over the internet (boot.iso 9.2MB [1] or the
Fedora-8-i386-rescuecd.iso 103M [2])
- Installation from a local mirror (same images as above)
- Live media (around 700MB [3])
You should, at least, have it broken-up into several CD images,
the way you use to. Keep the DVD images, but somewhere, give
people a chance to download CD images or something smaller.
Fedora Unity provides CD sets [4] or start with a LiveCD.
