That's an artifact of gmail's automatic de-duping. If someone sends mail to a list you're on, CC-ed to you, you're only going to see whichever copy won the race to your gmailbox (usually the CC, but not always).
Yes, but I'm seeing replies to mails sent to the list now (this wasn't the case when I first started the subscription) irrespective of whether I'm in the CC list or not, but atm I'm not seeing any mails I've created from scratch.
