I still do updates while logged in (hasn't killed it yet, worked for decades, and shouldn't do if people don't get too sloppy about it). Having said that, when I boot Fedora 39 on the other PC with a solid state drive in it, it boots so damn fast that I don't get a chance to do that. There's a moment while the hardware does its thing, then it's barely passed the bit where I have to type the decrypt password, and the graphical login screen has appeared.
