I recently upgraded to F40 (KDE) and, for the most part, everything is
working. Except the login screen.
I've tried to install slick-greeter and lightdm-gtk-greeter, following
whatever recommendations I found online. The result is a hung system
with a black screen until I remove the greeter configuration and reboot.
Can someone point me to a reasonable login screen and configuration?
Most of my F39 Plasma installations use KDM. None use SDDM. A few use TDM. IIRC,
none of my F40 installations have Plasma (or SDDM, or GDM, or LightDM) installed.
KDM is still showing as available in F40. Mine not using KDM are using TDM.
Thanks all who responded.
When I upgraded to F40, SDDM was not installed. LightDM was installed.
Somehow I had the impression from the release notes that SDDM was no
longer available. That seems to be incorrect.
I'll take a look at KDM or reinstall SDDM and go back to what I've been
doing for ages.
