two days ago, i installed fedora jam 39 on an external drive. This

You installed Fedora on the external drive, but you also have an
installation on the internal drive?
Yes this is correct. If i plugin the drive, fedora jam is correctly booting.
When you installed to the external drive, it replaced the Fedora entry
in the EFI boot list to point to that instead of the internal drive.
What did you use to do the installation?
i installed from live iso downloaded from fedora. selecting the
external drive and partition. then automatic install. Works all.
Are you booting with the external drive connected or not?
the problem is only, if i boot without the drive connected.
What options does the grub menu show?
1. only system setup from the orginal recovery debian. this is a normal
entry.
You have a Debian install on there as well?
2 boot UEFI File. this is also a normal entry.
i use the second option and select the correct file. then fedora39
starts correctly.
Is this with the external drive connected or not?
it seems, that the recovery scripts from the different tutorials (mostly
in end grub2-mkinstall) are not recognizing the fedora39 installation. i
do not understand why.
Go into the BIOS and check the boot list. I'm wondering if you have a
Debian entry that is being used. You can also add another Fedora entry
that points to the internal hard drive.
