Sorry to hear it doesn't work. If all fails, I've used VPN Unlimited from Ukrainians at Keepsolid and it has worked flawlessly, on Ubuntu and Debian.
It has the bonus that a percentage of the proceeds goes to the Ukraine military to defend themselves against the Russian invasion.
Plus, it's lifetime plan is truly lifetime.
I paid six years ago and got myself a new lifetime license this year just to have around in case of need of additional slots.
