Hmm, I've had a mpv playing a video file hard lock-up a system several times (dunno if it was a corrupt video file, or another cause). Suddenly the screen would go oddly darker, looking like there was a flyscreen in front of the image, then start to smear video as it slowly drew on the screen. I expected to be able to CTRL ALT BACKSPACE to kill X and recover, but rarely did it recover from this. The system seems far from crash- proof. -- NB: All unexpected mail to my mailbox is automatically deleted. I will only get to see the messages that are posted to the list.
