I've downloaded and verified an .iso for F38 with Xfce, used dd to write
it to a new flash drive and tried to boot it on my laptop with a brand
new blank hard drive. All I get is a grub prompt. I've tried to follow
the instructions at
https://www.linuxfoundation.org/blog/blog/classic-sysadmin-how-to-rescue-a-non-booting-grub-2-on-linux
but what they describe doesn't match what's on that flash drive, and I
can't make heads or tails of it. Does anybody have a pointer to getting
a live system to boot when it doesn't Just Work?
