I've been trying to develop strategies for dealing with a suddenly unresponsive system. One thing that looks promising is the "magic sysrq key". However a far as I can tell, that only works in the console, which makes it unavailable in my situation, where Alt+F1 does not work either. Is there an alternative with equivalent functionality?
