To answer the command line to long to be interpreted, I myself would try a backspace, then enter. Sometimes that works with the shell. I love this question it involves powerful commands and shell commands. :)

Maibe a good choise can be
find . -type f -iname "*pdf" -exec tar -Azvf /var/tmp/SomeArchive.tgz {} \;
