Software RAID works very well on modern hardware. You do want to make sure a power
outage can't cause a shutdown before the RAID is safely dismounted. Ideally a your site
has a reliable generator and your server has a UPS that can hold power while waiting for
the generator to come online and also long enough to ensure a clean shutdown when the
generator fails.
