why?
Because bluetooth is the most persnickety unreliable temperamental

ever invented?
Sometimes you have to put the device you are trying to connect to into
some special mode before it will show up, and the way you do that
isn't indicated on the device anywhere so you have to spend an hour
finding a copy of the manual on the internet so you can search it for
another hour to find the instructions :-).
There is also no such thing as "bluetooth", there is version 1, 2 3, 4,
5, maybe up to 6 or 7 by now, and often one version won't be backward
compatible with another version.
Yep, my upgraded motherboard I think is using Bluetooth 6. I did have
these speakers working some time ago when I was using a Bluetooth 4
dongle, and I was trying to get them working again because my
grandchildren are coming to visit again and they were amused by them.
I might try them again under windows if I can't get them working under
linux.
I found out how to pair the speakers under linux when I paired them
under windows. The speakers, in the bluetooth search window, were
actually the only ones that weren't listed as a mac address. Bluetooth
is seeing them as "Hands Free Headphones". I've now got them paired so
they now appear as an output device in the sound list.
