Hello, Thank for all the suggestions cat /etc/group | grep pdupre wheel:x:10:pdupre pdupre:x:1000: I guess that it fine startx -- -noreset -retro xauth: file /home/pdupre/.serverauth.4295 does not exist /usr/libexec/Xorg.wrap: Only console users are allowed to run the X server xinit: giving up xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused xinit: server error Couldn't get a file descriptor referring to the console. My opinion is that the issue come from the graphic configuration of this user If I remove /home/pdupre then the graphic starts properly ./config ? Is there is a way to check it? =========================================================================== Patrick DUPRÉ | | email: pdupre@xxxxxxx Laboratoire interdisciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne 9 Avenue Alain Savary, BP 47870, 21078 DIJON Cedex FRANCE Tel: +33 (0)380395988 | | Room# D114A =========================================================================== > Sent: Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 6:23 AM > From: "Samuel Sieb" <samuel@xxxxxxxx> > To: users@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: .serverauth.2688 does not exist > > On 7/23/22 13:57, Patrick Dupre wrote: > > Hello > > > > running startx, I get > > xauth: file /home/pdupre/.serverauth.2688 does not exist > > > > > > X.Org X Server 1.20.14 > > X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 > > Build Operating System: 5.18.10-200.fc36.x86_64 > > Current Operating System: Linux Sappho 5.18.13-200.fc36.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Jul 22 14:03:36 UTC 2022 x86_64 > > Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=(hd0,msdos6)/vmlinuz-5.18.13-200.fc36.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/VolSys1-root ro resume=UUID=cc01ef93-ef1c-4a18-9bbb-6339aa8a5e97 rd.lvm.lv=VolSys1/root nouveau.modeset=0 pci=noaer > > Build Date: 12 July 2022 12:00:00AM > > Build ID: xorg-x11-server 1.20.14-7.fc36 > > Current version of pixman: 0.40.0 > > Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org > > to make sure that you have the latest version. > > Markers: (--) probed, (**) from config file, (==) default setting, > > (++) from command line, (!!) notice, (II) informational, > > (WW) warning, (EE) error, (NI) not implemented, (??) unknown. > > (==) Log file: "/home/pdupre/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log", Time: Sat Jul 23 22:46:08 2022 > > (==) Using config directory: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d" > > (==) Using system config directory "/usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d" > > xf86EnableIOPorts: failed to set IOPL for I/O (Operation not permitted) > > (II) modeset(0): Initializing kms color map for depth 24, 8 bpc. > > The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > >> Warning: Could not resolve keysym XF86EmojiPicker > > Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server > > The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: > >> Warning: Could not resolve keysym XF86EmojiPicker > > Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server > > xinit: connection to X server lost > > > > waiting for X server to shut down (II) Server terminated successfully (0).
