I have done this, I installed both packages above. Now, at bootup I am getting some errors (still, these were present before installing the new drivers, less I think) related to nouveau: https://pastebin.com/VFwQBbEq I also think I saw some other message regarding power management at bootup but it is not contained in the above paste from dmesg. Is there a way for me to test if my card has been properly installed and the driver is in use? How do I know which card is used for normal computing and what card is used for specific applications? Note: Gnome has an option to "Launch using discrete graphics card" when right clicking on any app installed. thanks for your help.
Do the graphics work? In other words, are you using the NVidia card to run X? If you attach an external monitor does it come up?
You might need to blacklist nouveau (although I am relatively certain you shouldn't have to, the RPMFusion packages should do that automatically.
