I'm unclear on what you mean here. Is this a case of using IMAP (or
even POP) via Evolution on a webmail system such as Gmail?

I suggest you ask on the Evolution list (evolution-list@xxxxxxxxx),
mentioning the specific version of Evo you have (see Help->About). This
kind of question usually finds an answer pretty quickly.
