Do you have both pulseaudio and pipewire installed? They are supposed
to be exclusive, and it is possible to swap between them using a dnf
command.

dnf swap pulseaudio pipewire-pulseaudio

If you just installed pipewire, I'm not sure if the swap takes place,
and you might have both pulseaudio and pipewire-pulseaudio installed.

Are you using pipewire or do you have wireplumber installed?
wireplumber is supposed to be more advanced.

Given what you've written, I agree that it is unlikely to be a hardware
problem. I have these programs installed and my sound works great.
You probably don't need the devel packages, I have them installed
because I sometimes compile mplayer from the svn repository.

pipewire0.2-devel-0.2.7-7.fc36.x86_64

wireplumber-libs-0.4.7-3.fc36.x86_64
wireplumber-devel-0.4.7-3.fc36.x86_64

They are from rawhide, but they are probably also available in f35.
