I had never used virt-viewer. When I try to run it I get "Failed to connect: No running virtual machine found".

OK, reading the man page helped. :-) :-)
Although the options to send key strokes are all greyed out. Maybe because my VM are running under qemu?
Not sure if there is any value running via virt-viewer v.s. using virt-manager.
