The codecs didn't improve matters. After testing various SW I'm leaning towards HW.
There's also a difference between "better" and "nicer." From a purists
point of view, better means *accurate* reproduction. Another person
thinks it's nicer if they boost the bass &/or treble. That's
*inaccurate*, and the problems compound when you use several things in
tandem that have been tweaked. I have a pair of headphones with very
boosted bass that turn good music into whumpy sound, they don't need
something else doctoring the sound, as well.
I should have defined the issue better.
The Fedora system produces sound with, hard to describe, some "stuttering". So, it gives the
impression of clicks, but there aren't any.
I don't often use the Fedora system for music, so not sure if it is worth trying fix it.
