Tested on almost new computer with OpenSUSE Leap 15-3:

ls: cannot access '/dev/tpm': No such file or directory (tried again as root--NG.)

You missed the asterisk.  "ls /dev/tpm*"

journalctl | grep -i tpm   (This command required root permission.)
