pretty fatal sounds bad enough for me. Now I need to remember how to
tell grub to boot a particular kernel.
I wouldn't expect the size to change, although it's not clear what
you're comparing it to. The timestamp is updated, so it's writing the
file. I guess as bad as that message sounds, it still works. Have you
tried booting it? If it works, then it's fine.
