Eventually, I fixed the issue! I was using the 340xx nvidia driver instead of 390xx recommended for my GT560M GPU. I remember now that I had to go to 340xx a long time ago because 390xx was not maintained anymore with kernel updates. It now works with kdm and sddm so I switch to sddm as it is recommended. I discovered the issue when I switched to the latest kernel and got nvidia driver not launched (I had the wrong screen resolution, so it was obvious that something was wrong). However I had to blacklist nouveau, otherwise, the nvidia driver did not launch. Thanks for help.
