I use "youtube-dl" from the command line, it gives you a lot of control over exactly what formats you want. "youtube-dl -F url" will give you the list of available formats and then you can use "youtube-dl -f {n} url" to get it. See the man page for details. Btw, even though it's called "youtube"-dl, it can download from many other sites as well.
