I don't think this is anything to do with characters. Looks like your
rsyncing to a CDROM. Is that even sane?

Hi Cameron,

It is rsync'ing to a flash drive.

rsync does not like : > :: .* @ ** <> { } << >>.  If I
change the names, it works.
