If I'm running qBittorrent and try to log out with Ctrl-Alt-Del, or by

I'd immediately switch to a new torrent program. That doesn't even
make sense if it is doing something, torrents are the most robust
restartable data transfer technique ever. What are they trying
to prevent? (I hate "helpful" software :-).
I agree, and indeed Transmission doesn't have this problem, but it's
not entirely clear that the blockage is being caused by qBT itself. Of
course, if no-one else is seeing it, that may be the case. I'd be
reluctant to leave qBT as otherwise it's highly functional, but I'm not
entirely against it.
If you're happy with the program, is it really a big deal to close it
before logging out? Firefox will also block logout under certain
conditions, so I suspect there is some other messaging involved. I
doubt that systemd has anything to do with logging out, it's for events
like suspend and shutdown.
