While things worked for me with the guest using the host's DVD drive I should mention a "funny".

I use KDE as my desktop and apparently there was a "competition" between KDE on the host and
Win10 on the guest.  If I ejected the DVD from either one, the tray wouldn't stay opened.  I had
to be very quick to insert or remove the DVD from the tray.  I'm sure I could have figured it out
if I wanted to....but since I would normally use an iso instead of the actual drive itself I didn't spend
any time on it.
