When they first become prevelent, they often didn't work for me. Over
the years, I found it common that they'd make me go through several
captchas before they allowed me through (I suspect this was just them
being thorough). These days, I seem to only have to do one captcha to
be allowed in. For my money, they've gotten better than they used to
be.
The ones that are just click the square are really curious. I suppose
the thought is that the active location is hidden from the crawlers.
