You haven't said what kind of docs.  Do they need to be a specific
filetype, or do they just need to be able to read some instructions?
If it's the latter, you could just use a webserver.

how to do a https certificate.  But that would
probably be just as worky as vsftp

certbot is easy and you can create a cron job to auto renew it.
