So for the first time I would benefit from a Jabber client on my
Fedora30 system (Webex on Fedora is pretty bad, I will probably have
to use my Win10 system for the video).
I use webex at work on Fedora and it generally works fine. My group
has only used screen sharing, but a coworker has used the video
conferencing and it seems to work as well.
I could see some material fine, but when some participants shared their
desktop, I saw a blank screen while others saw the content.
I switched over to my Win10 system with the WebEx app and I also saw the
material. So I gave up on my Fedora system for now.
The fun part is that IETF has an Etherpad for joint note taking. It
runs over port 9009 which is blocked on the firewall zone that my Win10
system is on. The Fedora system's firewall zone is just fine with port
9009. I am not going to bother to fix this for this week of IETF
virtual meetings. If we are still looking to be virtual for the July
meeting (in-person in Madrid), then I will spend some time prior getting
things working better.
Fun had by some. Or all had some fun, few had all fun. :)
thanks
