Okay, in unfamiliar territory here, so logged in as my user, I tried
crontab -e and put

@reboot "/usr/bin/fetchmail -d 900"

into it, then rebooted to see what would happen. It didn't do what I
expected, and I got this error message back:

/bin/sh: /usr/bin/fetchmail -d 900: No such file or directory

Which seems odd, as "/usr/bin/fetchmail" does exist.

Next, as logged in as the root user, I tried "crontab -e" and entered
this into it:

@reboot su tim -c "/usr/bin/fetchmail -d 900"

And that does seem to work. So I can put all the different users into
the root crontab. Not sure when I should have kept the "su tim -c"
prefix with an individual user's crontab, it doesn't seem logical.

It's also odd that when logged in as root, I can fire off my original
command line, manually, and they'll work fine. And root's crontab can
fire off my original command line, and it'll work. But the new
rc.local service won't do it.
