I think you are caught in a fork conflict. Both are a fork of mysql, and I vaguely recall there was a disagreement about the direction of mariadb that led to the creation of community-mysql. Or maybe it was with the actual mysql, at Oracle now. It's kind of like the python2 / python3 imbroglio.
