I got rid of the "mess" in the panel.
It was quite a struggle, but I did get "im-chooser" run successfully.
How did you configure ibus to put the "EN" rather than the blue Chinese
"pin"(?) character in the systray? Does the "EN" change to something
else when you're actually entering Chinese characters?
