You misunderstood the post. The ifup-* scripts in
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts will become ineffective, but the "ifup"
script still exists. Just remove the network-scripts package and
everything will keep on working the same, unless you have some very
unusual special configuration that you have manually changed.
