Amusingly enough, I'd say similar things about Evolution as a long-time user of Mutt. ;) I share your feelings about the list web interface, but I think that instead of being an argument against having such an interface, it's a sign that there are many types of users and the more power each of us has to interact with each other using our preferred tools, the better.
