Well, the above error messages come from DVD MPEG files, not MOV files. That suggests that someone's ignorantly renamed the files. Though I'd expect VLC to play misnamed anyway. Or those error messages relate to other files that you haven't listed for us. But if they're encrypted DVD files, and you don't have a VLC version that can play such DVD files, you might want to get a different version of VLC. DVDs are an encumbered format.
