I've been saying there is *NO* data being sent towards the ISP when devices are on the
same local network.

>From what I've written you should have gotten the impression that there is only 1 "hop". 
The connection is transparent
to the router.  The data never gets "into" the router.  The data is handled in the switch,
which happens to be in the same
enclosure as the router but no router functions are applied.  It is just as if my devices
were connected to a "Switch/Hub"
only.
