Hi,
formatted ntfs, copied file with Windows (You can say Windoof), but
still impossible to copy with linux, I use an old internal disk as
external disk without enclosure, therefore usb adapter, usb 2 interface.
The laptop is ok, but with Fedora possibly the beginning of this error
is a "path break down" during moving the file, therefore my question, if
some data of this file are kept in a "cache" and prohibits to copy/move
again, also after a reboot. Because copying this file is still possible
with Windows, I assume the file itself is still ok.
Kind regards
My understanding is that any such cache would be in /tmp, which is
located on a ramdisk which means that it can't survive a reboot. It's
possible that there's some sort of "dirty bit" that's not being properly
cleared from the file, but I don't know enough about NTFS (I abandoned
Windows before I had to use it.) to say for sure. Next time this
happens, try booting into Windows, doing a proper reboot and see if that
clears this up. If so, we'll know where to look.
