Your information seems out of date.

Before running virt-manager and starting a VM.

1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT

After....

[egreshko@meimei etc]$ ip link show
1: lo: <LOOPBACK,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT
group default qlen 1000
    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

5: macvtap0@enp2s0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,PROMISC,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc fq_codel
state UP mode DEFAULT group default qlen 500
    link/ether 52:54:00:e9:37:ee brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

This is with macvtap selected on the NIC with a source mode of Bridge.

The interface can then get a 192.168.1.X address from a router on the network.   2
caveats.

1.  You won't be able to make a connection between the host and the guest.
virt-manager warns you about this.

2.  If you're using IPV6 you'll need to set the macvtap interface on the host to
promiscuous.
