A few things. First, except for that kwallet issue with (I think) lightdm I have not had any problems with the various DMs in combination with different Desktops. If you're having problems getting/finding a DM that works I think it points to a problem on your system which should be found. Second, I have an F28 VM running Mate. You say "four panels". Does this mean you've added 2 additional panels to the 2 default ones? You've added panels to the sides? I am also able to select "Add to panel" in Mate and select from the menu "eyes" and have "eyes" placed on the panel. Are you saying that selection doesn't exist for you? -- Conjecture is just a conclusion based on incomplete information. It isn't a fact.
