This turned out to be a bad proposal, since the workstation didn't
boot up anymore with the vanilla kernel.
Perhaps I should have explicitly quoted here what the page also

Next time I might just mention exactly this ... ;)
Fortunately, the local IT support went in and updated the BIOS which
fixed the memory issue
