Actually, we aren't talking about 2 different things. > > What I am searching for, is a solution, which allows we to right-click on a url, > and select 'Open Link in Browser' and have the same result. What you want to happen is to right click a URL in a T-Bird message and select "Open Link in Browser" and have it open chrome. Yes? > > At present, NOTHING happens when I do the right-click thing. T-Bird follows, the xdg standards. If the contents of my ~/.config/mimeapps.list contains [Default Applications] text/html=google-chrome.desktop x-scheme-handler/http=google-chrome.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=google-chrome.desktop when I do as above it will open the link in chrome. If, it contains [Default Applications] text/html=firefox.desktop x-scheme-handler/http=firefox.desktop x-scheme-handler/https=firefox.desktop it will open firefox. What is in your ~/.config/mimeapps.list ? -- Conjecture is just a conclusion based on incomplete information. It isn't a fact.
